Your First Step with Zadjura Family Law: Understanding Our Intake Process and Paid Consultation
At Zadjura Family Law, we understand that reaching out to a lawyer can feel overwhelming. That is why we have designed our intake process and initial consultation to be simple, transparent, and respectful of your time, so you get the guidance you need from the very first step.
Below, we walk you through how our process works, followed by answers to frequently asked questions about our one-hour paid consultation.
Our Intake Process: What to Expect
STEP 1: Start with a Quick Intake Form
You will complete a short, secure form that helps us understand your situation and check for any conflicts of interest. This step ensures we can move forward ethically and effectively with a consultation.
STEP 2: Schedule and Pay for a Consultation
If no conflicts exist, we will email you a link to schedule your virtual consultation at a time that works for you. If you do not see a time that fits your schedule, please call us directly to explore alternative options. A consultation fee is required to reserve your appointment. This consultation fee covers the time you will spend with the attorney. We kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule; appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, are non-refundable.
STEP 3: Meet Virtually with the Attorney
During your consultation, which lasts up to 60 minutes, the attorney will gather additional background information, discuss your concerns, answer your questions, and provide initial legal guidance. Whether or not you decide to move forward, our goal is for you to leave the consultation with greater clarity and confidence.
STEP 4: Next Steps, Clearly Outlined
If your matter is one we can assist with, we will provide a personalized Fee Agreement outlining the scope of services, legal fees, and how to move forward. Please note that an attorney-client relationship is not formed, and work does not begin, until both a signed Fee Agreement and initial retainer payment are received.
Why a Paid Consultation Matters
We often hear questions about why we charge for a one-hour consultation instead of offering a free 15-minute phone call. Here is why:
A free 15-minute call is typically just a quick screening to determine if your case is a fit for the firm’s practice areas. It does not provide in-depth legal advice or provide you or the attorney an opportunity to determine how well you may work together.
In contrast, a one-hour paid consultation at Zadjura Family Law is a dedicated, in-depth session with an experienced attorney. It allows us to:
✓ Review your intake information beforehand
✓ Ask detailed questions to fully understand your situation
✓ Provide preliminary, tailored legal guidance you can rely on
✓ Answer your questions thoroughly
You will walk away with a clearer understanding of your rights, options, and next steps, even if you decide not to retain our firm. We believe your time and peace of mind deserve that level of commitment and care.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of the paid consultation?
The consultation is designed to give you meaningful, personalized legal guidance based on your specific circumstances. It is your chance to get clarity and direction about your next steps and get to know the attorney.
How much does the consultation cost?
The consultation is a flat fee, payable in advance. The current fee is listed on our scheduling page.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule without forfeiting your fee. Missed or late-canceled appointments with less than 24 hours’ notice are non-refundable.
Will I receive legal advice during the consultation?
Yes! During the one-hour consultation, the attorney will provide general legal guidance based on the information you provide. This guidance is designed to help you understand your options, though it does not include detailed legal research or document drafting.
Does paying for the consultation guarantee that you will take my case?
No. The consultation is an opportunity for both you and the attorney to determine if working together makes sense. We only take cases where we believe we can provide meaningful assistance.
Is the consultation fee applied to future legal services?
No. The consultation fee covers the time spent during the consultation itself and is separate from any future legal services. If you decide to retain us, we will provide a separate Fee Agreement and retainer arrangement.
